About Kelly Boffone

Kelly Boffone, the creative force behind The Peace Baker, has spent nearly two decades perfecting her craft as a pastry chef. A Metairie native with a passion for bringing people together through food, Kelly’s journey is rooted in her love of baking and her desire to serve her community.

Kelly’s culinary adventure began early. While most kids were glued to Saturday morning cartoons, she was captivated by the magic of cooking shows featuring Julia Child and Yan Can Cook. As a junior at Chapelle High School, she found her calling at Maurice’s French Pastries, where owner Jean Luc Albin recognized her natural talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in the culinary arts.

After earning her BS in Culinary Arts, Kelly honed her skills at renowned local restaurants like Charley G’s and Vega Tapas. She then spent five years teaching baking and pastry at Le Cordon Bleu in Minneapolis, sharing her expertise with aspiring chefs.

But when Hurricane Katrina devastated her hometown, Kelly felt a deep calling to return to Metairie. She joined Emeril Lagasse’s team as the Executive Pastry Chef at his flagship restaurant, where she continued to refine her craft at the highest level.

Kelly turned her passion into purpose by opening The Peace Baker on Veterans Avenue, across from Lafreniere Park. This gluten free and vegan bakery was born from her personal journey with food sensitivities and her determination to create delicious options for everyone. Whether it’s king cakes, eclairs, or her signature biscuits, Kelly has redefined what gluten-free baking can be, proving that it’s possible to cater to dietary needs without sacrificing flavor or quality.

Kelly’s menu is a labor of love, inspired by the needs and dreams of her customers. From reimagining classics to crafting everyday favorites, she takes pride in offering something for everyone. “It makes me so happy to bring joy to people who thought they’d never enjoy baked goods again,” she says.

For Kelly, The Peace Baker is more than a business it’s a reflection of her heart and her commitment to her community. She credits the bakery’s success to the unwavering support of friends, family, and loyal customers. “The Peace Baker wouldn’t be what it is today without all of you,” Kelly says. “Your love, encouragement, and trust keep me inspired every single day.”

Through The Peace Baker, Kelly has created a space where food brings peace, joy, and connection one gluten-free treat at a time.
